According to Fileleftheros, the meeting is unlikely to occur immediately and may be postponed until October or later.

The report notes that while the possibility of a tripartite meeting at the Secretariat level is still being considered, no significant progress has been made. The decision on when to invite the leaders to a tripartite discussion will be based on the insights Guterres gains from his separate meetings with Tatar and Christodoulides. UN Secretary-General Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric confirmed that Guterres is exploring the idea of a joint meeting with the two leaders to discuss the next steps in the Cyprus issue but has not yet extended any invitations.

Greek Cypriot government spokesperson Konstantinos Letimbiotis reiterated that the Greek Cypriot side would not accept anything that falls outside the established negotiation framework. Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos emphasized in an exclusive interview with Kathimerini that the UN General Assembly would be a pivotal moment for the Cyprus issue.

However, these assurances have not satisfied EDEK, one of the Greek Cypriot government's coalition partners. EDEK criticized the current approach, arguing that the Greek Cypriot side has made several dangerous concessions as goodwill gestures within its appeasement policy on the Cyprus issue. They urged that these mistaken policies should not be continued at the EU level.

EDEK also reiterated its position that the Republic of Cyprus should use its EU membership to demand that Turkey recognizes the Republic of Cyprus, fulfills its Cyprus-related EU obligations, and lifts its veto on Cyprus' participation in EU-NATO joint activities as a condition for agreeing to Turkey's participation in the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers (Gymnich).

Alithia also highlighted Kombos' comments in his interview with Kathimerini, where he stated that the UN Secretary-General now serves as a key reference point for the Cyprus issue.
