Tatar pointed out that after 50 years of pursuing a federal solution, all options have been exhausted. He stressed the need for a new agreement to initiate a fresh process. Tatar insisted on the recognition of Turkish Cypriot sovereignty, stating, "If a negotiation table is to be set, recognizing our sovereignty is crucial for us. It is not open to negotiation."

Addressing the administration in South Cyprus, Tatar urged, "Lift the sports embargoes; this would satisfy us and could lead to the start of a process. However, recent actions have been contrary to this.”

He reiterated the support for a two-state solution alongside Turkey, asserting, "The two-state solution is inevitable in Cyprus. It has existed for 60 years, and after 60 years, a unitary state with a single sovereignty is not feasible.”

Tatar concluded by reaffirming that without direct trade, direct flights, and direct contact, the TRNC will not engage in formal negotiations.
