TRNC Foreign Ministry Condemns GC Foreign Minister

In a written statement, the Ministry expressed its disapproval: "We condemn the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos for his audacity in attempting to deliver a message to the Turkish Cypriot people in his interview published yesterday in Kathimerini newspaper, and we call on him to exercise common sense."

The statement emphasized that the Turkish Cypriots, as equal co-owners of the island, have consistently rejected living under the control of the Greek Cypriots and have exercised their right to self-governance with dignity, despite the atrocities they have faced throughout history. The Ministry urged the Greek Cypriot side to recognize that Turkish Cypriots have an equal right to determine their own future as co-owners of Cyprus.

"We Will Never Compromise"

The Ministry further stated: "The recognition of the inherent rights of the Turkish Cypriots to sovereign equality and equal international status is the only realistic path to achieving a fair and lasting resolution to the Cyprus issue."

Rejecting Kombos' statements, the Ministry declared: "We strongly reject the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister's threatening messages aimed at the Turkish Cypriot people, delivered with an attitude as if he were the sole legal representative of the entire island. The Turkish Cypriot people will never submit to the Greek Cypriot side's arrogant approach, just as they have not done in the past. As the TRNC State, we reaffirm our commitment to fighting for the recognition of our inherent rights until the very end."
