Eylem Calls for Initiative to Start Negotiations Immediately
Selma Eylem, President of the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS), has called for an initiative to start negotiations as soon as possible.
Eylem emphasized the need for talks to be initiated to ensure a solution and peace in Cyprus and to include the Turkish Cypriots under international law.
In a written statement, Eylem claimed that Turkish Cypriots are being driven toward extinction, with their rights, will, and freedoms being stripped away through impositions, pressure, and threats. She urged that the international community should not remain passive regarding the situation in the northern part of the island.
Eylem stated, “We will continue our struggle for the existence of our country, our rights, and freedoms, and for our children to live with dignity.”
She criticized the establishment of a system based on human trafficking, arguing that fundamental public services like education and health are being undermined. Eylem alleged that there is widespread fraud, looting, corruption, nepotism, and moral decay, and asserted that those who created and benefited from this system must be held accountable.
