Two Injured, One Arrested in Three Separate Traffic Accidents

In three separate traffic accidents occurring on the Nicosia, Famagusta-Iskele main road and in Iskele, two people were injured, and one person was arrested. One of the accidents involved a drunk driver losing control of his vehicle on the Famagusta-Iskele main road.

At around 00:30 last night, Vahit Bayır (24) was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration of 251 milligrams. While heading towards Iskele in his YP 443-registered sedan, he lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the Long Beach roundabout. Bayır crashed into the curb and a lighting pole located in the center median. He was injured in the accident and taken to Famagusta State Hospital, where he is currently under observation following treatment.

Pedestrian Injured by Compressor Dislodged from Crane

At around 09:30 yesterday in the Nicosia Industrial Zone, a pedestrian was injured when a compressor, attached to a crane, struck him after another vehicle collided with the crane.

On the 3rd Street of the Nicosia Industrial Zone, Cem Goral (43) was attempting to move an air compressor from the right side of the road to the left side using a crane attached to his PG 721-registered loading truck. At that moment, Emmanuel Ezenwa (29), who was driving south on the street in a UJ 054-registered panel van, collided with the crane’s arm due to inattentiveness. As a result, the compressor fell and struck pedestrian Muhammad Ameen (40), who was standing on the sidewalk. Ameen was injured and taken to Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured jaw and ribs. He is now under observation in the General Surgery Department.

One Arrested Following Traffic Accident in Iskele

In Iskele, at around 02:30 last night, Ali Ramezanpourkhaki (28) was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration of 154 milligrams. While heading south in his HG 017-registered sedan, he lost control of his vehicle near the Edelweiss junction due to inattentiveness.

According to the police report, Ramezanpourkhaki veered off the road and crashed into a billboard, causing his vehicle to overturn. He was subsequently arrested.
