Speaking on Kıbrıs Postası TV’s "Morning News" program hosted by Canan Onurer, Akansoy addressed the ongoing uncertainties and tensions stemming from the unresolved status of the Cyprus issue.

Discussing the functioning of the Immovable Property Commission (IPC), Akansoy acknowledged the significance of the IPC but noted that it alone cannot fully resolve the property problems in Cyprus. He stressed that while the IPC plays an important role in addressing property issues until a comprehensive solution is reached, it cannot substitute for a negotiated settlement.

Akansoy pointed out that property is one of the six fundamental issues in the Cyprus problem and highlighted that the Greek Cypriot side often uses the property issue as a tool against Turkish Cypriots. He warned that without the initiation of a negotiation process, the current status quo will persist, leading to negative consequences for both communities.

"This is why prioritizing the negotiation process is crucial," Akansoy concluded, urging a return to the negotiating table to address the property issue and the broader Cyprus problem.
