Three Separate Accidents: Drivers Were Intoxicated

In a span of 24 hours, three separate traffic accidents occurred in Alayköy, Nicosia, and Famagusta, all involving intoxicated drivers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but each incident was attributed to reckless driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the police press office, the first accident took place on August 29, 2024, at around 10:00 PM in Famagusta, in the parking area of Royalsun Market. Volkan Araz (39), while reversing his vehicle (license plate MC 916), collided with another vehicle (license plate YN 178) driven by Olgun Özkol (40), who was under the influence of 119 milligrams of alcohol and was driving westward. No injuries were reported, but legal action has been initiated against both drivers, and the investigation is ongoing.

Accident on Alayköy Main Road

The second incident occurred on August 30, 2024, at approximately 12:10 AM on the Alayköy Main Road. Agamyrat Bazarov (46), driving under the influence of 213 milligrams of alcohol, lost control of his vehicle (license plate EN 168) while heading towards Alayköy and crashed into steel barriers at the Atatürk Street junction. No injuries were reported in this accident either, but legal proceedings have been initiated, and the investigation is ongoing.

Accident in Nicosia: Driver Hits Traffic Sign

The third accident took place on Üsküdar Street in Nicosia at around 3:00 AM on August 30, 2024. Hakan Kalkan (32), driving with 217 milligrams of alcohol in his system, lost control of his vehicle (license plate LL 243) near the İsmail Beyoğlu Street junction and crashed into a traffic sign. As with the previous incidents, no injuries were reported, but legal action has been initiated against the driver, and the investigation continues.
