The Ministry asserts that the series disrespects the memory of Turkish Cypriots who were killed by Greek Cypriot paramilitaries between 1963 and 1974.

In a statement released on social media, the Ministry emphasized that the series portrays the Turkish military as occupiers, a characterization that they vehemently reject. The statement reads: "The series 'Famagusta,' which is set to be broadcast on a digital platform, distorts historical facts to serve the black propaganda of the Greek Cypriot Administration. This series is a gross disrespect to the sacred memories of Turkish Cypriots who were brutally murdered by bloodthirsty Greek Cypriot gangs between 1963 and 1974. Such futile attempts to misrepresent the truth will only strengthen our resolve in the national cause of Cyprus. We honor our Cyprus veterans with respect and remember our martyrs with reverence."

Earlier, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik also expressed Turkey's discontent with the series, stating, "We cannot accept that the intervention, which brought peace and justice, is being targeted by Greek propaganda."

The series, which has yet to be released, has already sparked significant controversy, particularly regarding its portrayal of the events during the Cyprus conflict.
