Üstel stated that the Greek Cypriot Administration continues its decades-long policies of misinformation and distortion of the just cause of the Turkish Cypriots.

In his social media statement, Üstel emphasized that the series, set to be released in September, falsely portrays Turkey as an occupier and misrepresents historical events on the island. He expressed strong disapproval of the series, highlighting that the Turkish Cypriots have endured years of oppression and suffering under Greek Cypriot rule, which is well-documented and acknowledged even by some Greek Cypriot politicians.

Üstel reaffirmed the TRNC's commitment to countering such misinformation, stressing that they will not stand by while the truth is distorted through films and other media. He also mentioned that any platform promoting such films under the guise of art will be closely monitored, and appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that the truth is upheld.
