Kombos: Meeting with Fidan Took Place in a Positive Atmosphere
Konstantinos Kombos, the Foreign Minister of South Cyprus, commented on his recent brief meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during the informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers. He stated that the interaction occurred in a good atmosphere.
According to a report in the Fileleftheros newspaper, Kombos confirmed that the meeting, which took place within the framework of the informal EU Foreign Ministers' gathering in Brussels, was typical of such encounters, lasting only a few minutes and conducted in a positive environment.
Kombos mentioned that the discussion with Fidan covered substantive issues as much as possible within the limited time. Reflecting on last week's informal meeting, Kombos emphasized that the framework of EU-Turkey relations was reaffirmed, noting that these relations are directly linked to the Cyprus issue.
He also claimed that a message was conveyed to the Turkish Foreign Minister, highlighting that the European Union consists of 27 member states, not 26. Kombos pointed out that this message was delivered not by the Greek Cypriot side but by others, signaling the support they received from the EU Foreign Ministers' Council.
