12 Truck Drivers Reported for Violating Restricted Area on Kyrenia-Nicosia Highway

Following a report by Kıbrıs Postası titled "Restrictions are being violated on the Nicosia-Kyrenia main road; the police are not fully enforcing the ordinance!" police teams initiated legal procedures against trucks over 5 tons, which had been using the section of the road between the underpass and overpass of the Kyrenia-Nicosia highway and the St. Hilarion Junction, despite being prohibited from doing so.

In a statement, the police provided details of the inspections:

"During inspections conducted by traffic teams nationwide this morning, focused on trucks, it was found that six truck drivers operating vehicles weighing 5000 kg or more were reported for driving during prohibited hours—one hour before the start of public working hours until the start of the working day (between 07:00 and 08:00). Legal action has been initiated against them.

Additionally, during traffic inspections carried out yesterday on the Kyrenia-Nicosia main road by traffic teams from the Kyrenia Police Department, 12 truck drivers were reported for driving on the restricted section of the road between the underpass and overpass and the St. Hilarion Junction, and legal action was taken against them."
