Speaking at a press conference at Ercan Airport following the arrival of Turkey's Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Üstel highlighted the significance of these ties.

"Our relationship with Turkey is about living in security, peace, and freedom, with sovereign support in every field," Üstel said, noting that the deepening of relations built on love and respect is crucial for the people of the TRNC.

He expressed his satisfaction with elevating relations between Turkey and the TRNC to unprecedented levels. Üstel also announced that two new protocols would be signed during Yılmaz's visit, bringing new good news to the public.

"Without Stability, Projects Cannot Be Completed"

Üstel stressed that without political stability, necessary projects remain unfinished. "Because we have achieved stability, we have also attained economic stability," he said, thanking President Erdoğan and Vice President Yılmaz for their support in completing projects that had been stalled since 2012.

Among the completed projects, Üstel mentioned the Ercan Airport and the ongoing work on divided roads, including the foundation laying of the Nicosia Ring Road's Clover Junction, which took place with the participation of Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

He pointed out that the economic development in the TRNC has caused discomfort in Southern Cyprus, which has harassed construction sector workers, unlawfully arrested individuals, and imposed pressure on tourists crossing from the South to the North. "We will overcome these challenges with Turkey's support and work to bring our country to its rightful place," Üstel added.

"We Are Advancing Full Speed Ahead"

Referring to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call at the UN General Assembly for the recognition of the TRNC, Üstel stated, "We are moving forward full speed ahead." He also expressed gratitude for the 2024-2025 Economic and Financial Cooperation Protocol, which will allow the signing of new projects in the health sector.

Üstel recalled Yılmaz’s previous visit, during which a preliminary protocol for a cable electricity project aimed at solving the country's energy problems was signed, noting that the project is now in its final stages. He concluded by reaffirming that two new protocols would be signed during Yılmaz's visit, bringing further good news to the public.
