During a press briefing at the UN headquarters in New York, Dujarric responded to a question from the Cyprus News Agency. He emphasized that the Secretary-General continues to explore the possibility of inviting both leaders to discuss the next steps in resolving the Cyprus issue. "This is something we are still evaluating," he said.

Dujarric made it clear that, as of now, no invitation has been extended to the two leaders for a joint meeting. "What needs to be clear is that no invitation has been sent to date," he added.

The newspaper Haravgi reported that both Tatar and Christodoulides have hinted in their public statements that there were discussions about the possibility of a tripartite meeting towards the end of September or early October.
