A- A A+

Eylem highlighted that the actual need for teachers is approximately 230, while the Ministry plans to reduce the number of positions from 187 to 133. This reduction is expected to result in thousands of vacant teaching hours, which the authorities seem indifferent to. Eylem also noted that the Ministry is advertising vacancies in certain departments despite a lack of actual need.

"Ignoring the Needs of Key Positions"

In a written statement, Eylem criticized the Ministry for failing to open positions for 210 section chiefs, 58 workshop chiefs, and 47 technical instructors, despite the clear need. She accused the Ministry of increasing teachers' workload and altering their legal rights while avoiding necessary appointments.

"Is the Goal to Leave Young Teachers Unemployed?"

Eylem questioned whether the Ministry’s approach was aimed at leaving young teachers unemployed and depriving them of their rights, highlighting that 47 teachers from Turkey are being assigned to nine different subjects without addressing the actual needs.

"Temporary Positions and Political Influence"

She expressed concern that the government might be planning to fill the vacancies with temporary staff instead of making permanent appointments. Eylem condemned the government's focus on party politics and election campaigns at the expense of addressing the needs of young teachers and improving education.

"Education Should Be Free from Political Influence"

Eylem called for a shift away from political interference in education, advocating for a transparent, equitable, and scientifically-based approach to providing quality, free public education.

"We Will Continue to Fight for Our Future"

She reminded that the government and Ministry of Education have a primary responsibility to fulfill their constitutional duties. Eylem reaffirmed the union's commitment to fighting for quality education and a democratic society.
