Erdoğan: Turkey and Egypt Maintain Close Dialogue on Regional Issues

Reflecting on the official visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his delegation to the Presidential Complex on September 4, Erdoğan noted that the visit, following the historic trip in February, has advanced Turkey-Egypt relations significantly.

Erdoğan highlighted that the visit was underscored by the signing of 17 memoranda of understanding across various fields. He emphasized that Turkey is engaged in close dialogue with Egypt on regional matters, including Gaza, the Eastern Mediterranean, and North Africa.

In their mediation efforts for establishing a ceasefire and ensuring unhindered aid entry to Gaza, Erdoğan mentioned that Turkey has supported Egyptian authorities. He stressed the need for regional solidarity in the face of Israel’s expansionist policies, particularly in the context of the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Erdoğan called for a more resolute stance from the Islamic world against what he described as a genocide in Gaza.

He also criticized the Israeli government's expansionist policies, which now include attempts to include the Al-Aqsa Mosque in its plans. Erdoğan condemned the increasing provocations and incursions by Zionists into the Haram al-Sharif and reiterated Turkey's unwavering support for Jerusalem, labeling it as a red line for the Islamic world. He urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to address these attacks with urgency and to convene at the leadership level to express a united stance from the Islamic community.
