Erhürman pointed out that President Tatar has recently been advocating for a "3D formula" comprising Direct Flights, Direct Trade, and Direct Contact. He questioned whether these were preconditions for resuming negotiations, asking, “When these are achieved, will it be assumed that the demands for ‘sovereign equality’ and ‘equal international status’ have been met?”

Further pressing on the matter, Erhürman asked, “If these demands are met, what will be the basis for the negotiating table?”

Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu and Ersin Tatar Are Not Fully Aligned”

In a social media post, Erhürman emphasized that the positions of Ertuğruloğlu and Tatar are not entirely in sync. He stated, “It’s hard to clarify this 'idea,' but whatever it may be, it’s clear that Mr. Ertuğruloğlu is not fully aligned with Mr. Tatar. Ertuğruloğlu openly states that even if these conditions are met, the authority to approve them lies with the 'Republic of Cyprus,' which he does not accept.”

Erhürman continued, “Ertuğruloğlu says if these are to happen with the recognition of the TRNC, then fine, but otherwise, he does not approve. On the other hand, Tatar has clearly stated that he does not see the recognition of the TRNC as a precondition for starting negotiations.”

He remarked that although it is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of this divergence, it is clear that a rift is forming. Erhürman concluded by noting that while political unity is often maintained through vague rhetoric, “When it comes to defining concepts in the real world, cracks begin to emerge.” However, he added that both sides seem united in their desire for the status quo, observing that they still share a common goal of pursuing "non-solution as a solution."
