Arıklı: "3D is Not Enough, 3D 1K Must Be a Condition"
Erhan Arıklı, Leader of the Rebirth Party (YDP) and Minister of Public Works and Transportation, emphasized that the solution to the Cyprus issue should include not just the "3D" approach but also a "3D 1K" formula.
In a written statement, Arıklı underlined the importance of adding an electricity interconnection condition.
"President Tatar raised the '3D' demand—Direct Flights, Direct Contact, and Direct Trade—to Guterres as a precondition for resuming negotiations. While these demands are valid given the past, they are incomplete. A critical addition must be made: the interconnection of electricity through a cable," Arıklı stated.

Arıklı pointed out that electricity interconnection is as crucial for Southern Cyprus as it is for the TRNC.
"Everyone knows that Southern Cyprus needs €1.9 billion for the 'Great Sea Interconnector Project' and is struggling to secure this funding. However, a more affordable and faster connection to the mainland, namely Greece, could be achieved through the TRNC and Turkey. The President should insist on adding the electricity cable to the conditions, thereby advancing the 3D 1K formula," he concluded.
