Taçoy: "The Responsibility for the Education Crisis Lies with PM, Not UBP"

Hasan Taçoy, a candidate for the leadership of the National Unity Party (UBP), emphasized that the postponement of the opening of public schools for a week is solely the responsibility of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and should not be blamed on the UBP.

In a written statement, Taçoy clarified that the delay in starting the new academic year can only be explained by what he described as Üstel's incompetence.

Taçoy began his statement by reminding that "according to our country's constitution, the Prime Minister is the head of the executive." He stressed that the Prime Minister is both responsible and authorized to ensure the proper functioning of all state institutions and to address the country's issues.

"Once Again, He Has Failed"

Taçoy criticized the decision to delay the opening of public schools, noting that while the dates for reopening were already set and private schools had begun classes, the sudden postponement of public schools could only be attributed to Prime Minister Üstel's inability to manage the situation. "As in almost every important matter, Üstel has once again failed to meet expectations," Taçoy remarked.

Referencing discussions in the media, Taçoy pointed out that the postponement may have been politically motivated, stating, "If the rumors are true, it means that Prime Minister Üstel has jeopardized the future of tens of thousands of children just to hold onto his seat."

Taçoy added that the chaos in the education system has reached a level that cannot be resolved in a week, or even a month, according to widespread discussions.

"No One Can Blame Our Party Unjustly"

Taçoy was firm in defending the UBP, stating that neither the party nor its patriotic members are responsible for the current situation. "No one can take advantage of this opportunity to unjustly blame our party. The sole responsibility for this incompetence lies with the Prime Minister, who has failed to fill the seat he loves so dearly," he said.

He concluded by expressing his belief that UBP members would hold Üstel accountable for linking every recent administrative failure to the upcoming UBP congress.
