The panel of judges, presided over by Cemaller and including Senior Judge Vedia Berkut Barkın and Judge Tutku Candaş, found Bokçır guilty of "sexual assault." The incident occurred at their home around 5:00 AM, where Bokçır severely assaulted his wife before raping her. After the attack, Bokçır was arrested, and he had been awaiting trial in prison since November 8, 2023.

"Seriousness of the Crime Remains Despite Withdrawal of Complaint"

Cemaller highlighted that despite the withdrawal of the complaint, the gravity of the crime remained unchanged. Sexual assault is one of the most severe crimes under the penal code, carrying a life sentence. The court noted that Bokçır had brutally assaulted his wife before raping her, and despite the claim that alcohol played a role, this fact was considered aggravating rather than mitigating.

"Women Should Not Submit to Violence"

Cemaller also stressed that women, even if economically dependent, should not feel compelled to endure violence and that society must not accept such behavior.
