The first accident occurred on the Nicosia-Omorfo Main Road when 39-year-old Sefer Topuz, driving under the influence with 87 milligrams of alcohol, was heading toward Omorfo in his MJ 991 vehicle. Due to his lack of attention, he collided with the rear of a UK 280 vehicle driven by 27-year-old Kerem Rezzakioğlu, who was traveling in the same direction.

As a result of the impact, Topuz lost control of his car, veering off the road, hitting an electric pole, and eventually overturning onto its right side.

Topuz was injured in the accident and was taken to Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for treatment. After being discharged, legal action was initiated against him.

In the second accident, which occurred this morning on the Kyrenia-Alsancak Main Road, 20-year-old Berat Güler, with 295 milligrams of alcohol in his system, was driving his SP 550 vehicle toward Kyrenia. Due to his carelessness, he crashed into the right rear corner of a stationary ND 690 vehicle, driven by 74-year-old Edward William Smith, who had stopped at a red light.

The impact caused Smith’s vehicle to lurch forward, colliding with the left rear side of a YC 572 truck driven by 49-year-old Erhan Aydınoğlu. Güler’s vehicle continued forward and finally came to a stop after hitting the central reservation.

Edward William Smith was injured and taken to Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, where he is currently under observation. Güler was arrested following the incident.
