The meeting took place at the United Nations headquarters as part of Erdoğan’s visit for the 79th UN General Assembly. During the discussion Erdoğan reaffirmed that the Turkish Cypriot side seeks recognition of its inherent rights to sovereign equality and equal international status.

He suggested that solutions outside of the federation model could be explored in a meeting under the auspices of the UN, and argued that recognizing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as a state would be key to a resolution that reflects the realities on the island.

Erdoğan also touched on the situation in Palestine, condemning Israel’s actions as a form of genocide and calling it a new stain on humanity. He urged the international community to unite against Israeli atrocities and emphasized Turkey's intention to closely monitor and intervene in the genocide case filed against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Additionally, Erdoğan pointed out the worsening conditions in Gaza with the approach of winter, including the spread of diseases, and stressed the need for increased humanitarian and medical aid to the region.
