Tatar emphasized that the dinner, not part of formal negotiations, is an opportunity to explore the future of Cyprus within the context of informal talks, possibly involving both motherlands in a 4+1 format. He raised concerns with Guterres about the increasing pressure from the Greek Cypriot side, calling for the UN's intervention.

Tatar reiterated his position that no formal negotiations would occur until the Turkish Cypriots' sovereign equality and international status are recognized. He also emphasized that the federal solution has been exhausted, as demonstrated during the Crans Montana negotiations seven years ago.

During his week in New York, Tatar met with various officials and media representatives, sharing the plight of Turkish Cypriots and addressing key issues such as embargoes and restrictions. He also highlighted the discussions held by his Special Representative Güneş Onar with high-ranking UN Security Council officials.

In his statement, Tatar acknowledged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's unwavering support, particularly during meetings with Turkish officials at the Türkevi in New York. He also noted the significance of CHP leader Özgür Özel's stance against AKEL’s claims that Turkey is an occupying force in Cyprus.

Tatar concluded by expressing the need for cooperation on issues such as energy, water, electricity, and the prevention of irregular migration. While formal negotiations are not possible without common ground, he emphasized that dialogue and communication remain open.
