Arıklı Warns Tatar: YDP’s Response Will Be Harsh if Two-State Policy is Abandoned
Speaking from the parliamentary podium, YDP Chairman and Minister of Transport Erhan Arıklı issued a warning to President Ersin Tatar, stating, “President Tatar will go to New York to meet with Nikos Christodoulides. I hope he doesn’t abandon the two-state policy, or the YDP’s reaction will be very harsh.”
Arıklı emphasized that Tatar’s acceptance of an informal dinner meeting with Christodoulides during his discussions with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York came as a surprise. He warned, "I hope we don't experience déjà vu."
Recalling the 2020 presidential election, where the two-state solution triumphed over federation, Arıklı reminded the public of Tatar’s promise not to return to negotiations until Turkish Cypriots' rights were acknowledged.
