Eylem Calls for the Resignation of Education Minister
KTOEÖS President Selma Eylem has called for the resignation of Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, criticizing the Ministry of Education for alleged mismanagement.
In a written statement, the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) expressed concerns over the composition of the Ministry's advisory team.
Eylem highlighted accusations reported in the press, questioning the integrity of the individuals involved in advising students on university choices. The statement claimed that the advisory team includes individuals with questionable backgrounds, including one person involved in a "disgraceful crime" and another promoted from janitorial duties with a dubious diploma.
The statement directed several pointed questions at Minister Çavuşoğlu: "Is the future of our children being entrusted to individuals with disgraceful criminal records? Were special privileges given to their children in university placements? Were online interview processes manipulated to benefit the children of political allies?"
Eylem concluded by urging Minister Çavuşoğlu to address these allegations and resign from his post.
