Accompanied by TDP Central Executive Committee member Güner Ersen, Çeler attended the briefing on the political parties’ involvement in the New York discussions concerning Cyprus. He stressed the importance of keeping even parties outside Parliament informed about ongoing diplomatic efforts, as these updates shape their political stance.

The Importance of Dialogue

Çeler highlighted the significance of remaining at the negotiation table and continuing dialogue with the Greek Cypriot side, stressing that the Turkish Cypriot community faces increased pressures when it distances itself from negotiations.

Human Trafficking Scandal

He also raised concerns over recent reports of human trafficking and "slave camps" in the Omorfo region, noting how such incidents tarnish the image of the northern part of the island. Çeler pointed out that these scandals give the impression that the northern administration is not functioning as a legitimate state but rather as a hub for criminal activity.

A Call for Accountability

Çeler concluded by urging President Tatar to hold the government accountable for addressing these serious issues, stating, "If we claim there’s a state here, we must act like one." He stressed that inaction and the absence of statements from government officials further undermine public confidence.
