Eight Arrested for Drug Offenses

Eight individuals were arrested yesterday in Gönyeli, Gemikonağı, and İskele for possession of illegal substances, according to a statement from the Police Press Office.

In Gönyeli Yenikent, officers from the Anti-Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate conducted a search at the residence of M.I.H.M. (53). During the search, a plant believed to be cannabis, approximately 4 grams of suspected cannabis, and a metal detector were seized as evidence. M.I.H.M. was arrested.

Gemikonağı

In Gemikonağı, during a patrol on Şehit Salahi Mehmet Street by officers from the Lefke Police Station under the Güzelyurt Police Directorate, the suspicious behavior of J.H.R.N. (24) led to a search of his person and residence. Police found approximately 14 grams of suspected cannabis, a hand-rolled cigarette containing what is believed to be a mix of tobacco and drugs, a grinder, and a precision scale. J.H.R.N., along with M.B.S. (22), C.S.M. (23), and S.M. (23), who are believed to be involved, were arrested.

Additionally, at around 23:10, during routine traffic checks on Ecevit Street by traffic officers from the Güzelyurt Police Directorate, driver O.A. (35) displayed suspicious behavior. A search of his vehicle and person revealed approximately 1 gram of suspected cannabis and a hand-rolled cigarette believed to contain a mixture of drugs. O.A. was taken into custody.

İskele

At around 17:00 in İskele, officers from the Anti-Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate conducted an operation where B.A. (28) and M.B. (22) were found in possession of approximately 10 grams of suspected cannabis, 1 gram of suspected MDMA, and 1 gram of suspected cocaine. Both individuals were arrested.
