Küçük: TRNC is the Strategic Safe Haven of the Turkish World in the Mediterranean
Hasan Küçük, a member of parliament from the National Unity Party (UBP), highlighted the strategic significance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the Mediterranean, calling it a "safe haven" for the Turkish world amidst the ongoing developments in the Middle East.
In his written statement, Küçük emphasized the importance of a principled foreign policy, underlining the need for a strong political and military alliance with Turkey. He warned that Israel's actions, which he described as threatening regional peace, could lead to even more severe consequences in the future.
Küçük stated that the TRNC's future lies within the Turkish world, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Agreement and marking Turkish States Cooperation Day on October 3. "The future of the TRNC within the Turkish world is an undeniable fact. Our relations with Turkey and other Turkic states are of vital importance," he said.
He also expressed concern over the growing relationship between Israel and South Cyprus, calling it "dangerous" and a threat to the region's stability. "We can now see missiles in the sky from our balconies. Strengthening our defense and economic cooperation with Turkey and solidifying the foundations of the TRNC will benefit both us and the Turkish world," Küçük added, stressing the importance of enhancing political and economic ties to ensure mutual gains.
