Police Officer Murat Ergün presented the facts in court. According to the police, on September 30, 2024, at around 5:45 PM, a team conducted a search at Okafor's home and found 5 grams of what is believed to be cannabis in a plastic container in his pants pocket. The suspect was arrested, during which he stated that he purchased the drug from Tashinga Gwesu for $180.

The police further stated that at approximately 8:10 PM on the same date, a search at Gwesu’s home in Küçük Kaymaklı revealed 5 grams of cannabis in the pocket of his sweatpants. Following the arrest of Gwesu, an investigation was initiated.

The police reported that the suspects were brought to court and were given an additional three-day period, during which the anticipated analysis results were received. The investigation was completed, and the police noted that Okafor has been in the country for 13 years and holds legal status, adding that he has no prior convictions. They requested bail for both suspects.

Regarding Gwesu, the police stated that he denied the charge of drug supply but admitted to drug possession. It was mentioned that Gwesu is in the country on a student visa, and the police also requested bail.

Okafor's lawyer argued that his client is married with three children and owns a car valued at £15,000, as well as a house, asserting that the bail conditions could be met.

Judge Nuray Necdet, evaluating the testimony presented, ruled that both suspects must not leave the country until their trial. Each was ordered to deposit 30,000 TL in cash as bail, with Okafor requiring a guarantor for 800,000 TL and Gwesu for 600,000 TL. Additionally, the suspects are required to report to the nearest police station once a week while their case is ongoing.
