According to reports from Fileleftheros and other newspapers, Christodoulides made these comments during a memorial event, saying that he hopes for beneficial results from the upcoming meeting.

The reports highlighted that while many in Cyprus remain skeptical about any breakthroughs from the trilateral discussions, Christodoulides is maintaining a hopeful stance. The Greek Cypriot National Council is also set to meet today at 11:00 AM.

Christodoulides added that he takes advantage of every opportunity for dialogue on the Cyprus issue, despite the ongoing challenges, and claims to have re-energized international interest in the issue. He emphasized that through systematic and coordinated efforts, Cyprus has re-entered the international stage, positioned as a humanitarian aid corridor and a balancing force.

The Greek Cypriot leader also suggested that the international community has recognized their "constructive approach" following the UN General Assembly, with pressure now being applied on Turkey to resume substantive negotiations within the agreed-upon framework. “I am ready; I know our goals, our desires, our red lines, and the limits of compromise,” Christodoulides stated, expressing his hope for a positive outcome at the trilateral meeting on October 15.

He further stressed the need for strength in all sectors—economic, defense, and political—stating that fortifying the state is not only crucial for restarting dialogue on the Cyprus issue but also for reaching a functional and lasting solution.

Meanwhile, Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Konstantinos Ioannou conveyed cautious optimism about the upcoming informal trilateral dinner, underscoring that their side is not entering the talks with high expectations but remains hopeful for the resumption of negotiations. Ioannou reiterated that recent diplomatic efforts had paved the way for the informal meeting in New York and urged the Turkish Cypriot side to abandon "unreasonable demands" and come to the table with goodwill to negotiate based on agreed principles.
