15 Fires and 20 Emergency Incidents Last Week
According to a report by the Fire Department, a total of 15 fires causing damages worth 786,500 TL occurred across the country last week. In addition to the fires, the department responded to 20 special service incidents during the period between September 30 and October 6.
The likely causes of the fires were attributed to electrical short circuits, overloading of electrical lines, sparks from electrical wires igniting dry grass, accumulation of residue in chimneys, vehicle fires due to traffic accidents, insulation materials in attics catching fire from hot air, intentional burning, unattended cooking, and improperly discarded cigarette butts.
The special service incidents included rescuing individuals trapped in vehicles or elevators, freeing animals such as a goat from a well and a dog from an empty pool, conducting fire safety training, rescuing cats stuck in trees or vehicle engines, providing fire prevention measures, carrying out special duties, and transporting deceased individuals to hospitals for legal investigations.
