Ömer Çelik: "Cyprus is Perhaps the Most Strategic Location in the World Right Now"
AK Party Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Ömer Çelik announced that TEKNOFEST 2025 will be held not only in Istanbul but also in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), underlining Cyprus's strategic importance.
Speaking at the Aviation, Space, and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST) held at Adana Airport, Çelik highlighted the significance of this decision.
“Cyprus is perhaps the most strategic location in the world right now,” Çelik said, citing regional instability in Syria and Israel's actions, which have led to a heavy military presence in the Mediterranean. He emphasized the importance of sending a message from the TRNC about using technology for the benefit of humanity, contrasting it with those who support violence and oppressive regimes.
In his remarks, Çelik also stressed the symbolic meaning of TEKNOFEST being hosted in the TRNC, noting the positive impact on local morale, especially for the youth in the earthquake-affected regions, as the festival was held in Adana following the devastating earthquakes of February 2023. He added that the participation of young people in TEKNOFEST was crucial in reinforcing hope and resilience in the region.
