Tatar, who was attending a conference in Ankara, announced his decision to fly back at the earliest opportunity, stating, "I have canceled my programs and am returning to Cyprus."

Tatar had originally planned to participate in events in Samsun and Trabzon but will now miss them to ensure the parliamentary session can proceed. The parliamentary meeting, which was scheduled for today, has yet to begin.

In Tatar's absence, Zorlu Töre has been acting as President, and Fazilet Özdenefe, the Deputy Speaker, has been overseeing the Speaker's duties. However, Özdenefe has already announced that she will not chair the session, following the decision made by the Republican Turkish Party (CTP). It is expected that once Tatar returns, Töre will preside over the parliamentary session.
