Police Sergeant Hüseyin Ergüleç, from Demirhan Police Station, presented the facts of the case in court. The suspects, Arpaz and Köprülü, were accused of threatening E.K. with violence to take control of his cattle barn. The complaint was filed on October 1, 2024, and the suspects were arrested the same day in Kyrenia.

Sergeant Ergüleç stated that on October 4, a voice recording from E.K.'s phone revealed Köprülü demanding 40 million and the transfer of the barn, saying, "You'll pay 40 million in protection money and transfer the barn, however you manage it."

Although voice samples were taken from E.K. for comparison, the suspects refused to provide their own samples, constituting a violation of the police code. No evidence was found to support claims of the suspects possessing firearms.

With the investigation largely completed, Judge Nuray Necdet ordered that Arpaz, a TRNC citizen, remain in the country with a 35,000 TL cash bail, two guarantors signing sureties of 400,000 TL each, and weekly check-ins at the nearest police station. Köprülü, who is in the country as a tourist, was ordered to post 50,000 TL in cash bail, provide two guarantors for 800,000 TL each, and check in at the police station four times a week.
