Arıklı: The Rift is Within UBP, There Are Intricate Calculations Inside UBP

Arıklı highlighted that there are internal maneuvers within the National Unity Party (UBP), adding, "It is UBP’s responsibility to account for the five dissenting votes."

Speaking as a guest on Cyprus TV, Arıklı questioned why the issue had been blown out of proportion, saying, "Has there been a blockage in the state's functioning because the Speaker wasn’t elected? Were there any crucial urgent laws that couldn’t be passed?"

Arıklı accused the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and the left-wing opposition of inflating the situation to push for early elections. He also pointed out that although Fazilet Özdenefe had stated on TV that she was fulfilling her duties, CTP was preventing her from doing so constitutionally, adding, "They are not allowing the eldest member to open the session either."

"THE OPPOSITION JUST WANTS TO SHOW OFF"

Arıklı accused CTP of violating the Constitution while shifting the responsibility to the government. He emphasized that the opposition’s aim was to create a spectacle.

He further remarked on the internal dynamics within UBP, saying, "It’s hard to understand how they promise one thing below and vote differently above." Arıklı concluded that there were intricate calculations within UBP and that it was UBP’s task to find the five defectors.
