Erhürman: There Is No Way But Early Elections
A- A A+

In a strong statement regarding the Assembly's Speaker election and the ongoing "crisis," Erhürman pointed out that the government has lost its ability to govern, emphasizing that the current situation represents the "lowest point of mismanagement." He highlighted that Zorlu Töre's failure to be elected after five and a total of nine rounds clearly reflects the will of the majority in the Assembly. Erhürman asserted that the notion of "let's propose another candidate, maybe it will work" will not be accepted by the public, labeling the events of the last round as "not a game, but a disgrace."

"THERE IS NO OTHER WAY, EARLY ELECTIONS ARE INEVITABLE"

Erhürman indicated that the government's operation is completely blocked due to the crisis in the presidential elections, stating, "From this point on, the only agenda is early elections." He stressed the necessity of resorting to the people's will, recalling that a candidate who was claimed to receive 27 votes in the first round ended up with fewer affirmative votes. "Our people clearly see this picture," he added. Erhürman also criticized allegations regarding seeking an opinion from the Attorney General, questioning, "Can someone be elected Speaker of the Assembly with just one vote? There’s no need to even refer to the internal regulations for that." While evaluating the developments related to the government's functioning and the presidential elections, he stated that the issue is based on mindset rather than individuals.

"THE PUBLIC HAS SEEN THIS STRUCTURE CLEARLY"

Tufan Erhürman emphasized that the country is in a serious crisis and that the way out of this crisis is through early elections. He remarked, "This dysfunctional structure is leading the country into a circle of disaster," and noted that the events following the government’s opening of the Assembly further illustrate the seriousness of the situation. In conclusion, Erhürman stated, "Our people see this clear picture."
