Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu: "We Reject This Attitude Aimed at Undermining Ünal Üstel's Goodwill Initiatives"

Hasipoğlu emphasized that UBP has always been at the forefront of the struggle for the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people, noting, “Our party, with its deep-rooted history and strong structure, has been a founding entity that has established and sustained a state.”

Addressing the recent challenges faced in the assembly, he highlighted that personal ambitions and political calculations have led to a situation that the party does not deserve. “Our candidates were unable to secure their positions in the presidential elections, causing our effectiveness to be delayed,” he added.

"UBP AND ITS MEMBERS DO NOT DESERVE THIS"

Hasipoğlu stressed that General President Ünal Üstel is working closely with all party members, stating, “Unfortunately, the constructive attitude and dialogue efforts that Mr. Üstel has demonstrated, alongside the 66% open support he gained in the congress, have been undermined by certain individuals. Our party and our members do not deserve this situation.”

"THE DUTY OF THE MEMBERS IS TO WORK IN THE ASSEMBLY AND MAKE LAWS FOR THE PEOPLE"

Reiterating UBP's responsibilities in the assembly, Hasipoğlu reminded that all members were elected by the votes of UBP supporters. “The primary duty of the members is to work in the assembly and legislate for the people. This responsibility lies not only with UBP but also with the opposition and independent members,” he said.

"UBP WILL CONTINUE ITS PATH WITH UNITY"

Despite internal issues, Hasipoğlu asserted that UBP continues to operate with unity and determination. He remarked, “While National Unity Party members can bring individuals to these positions, they also know how to reclaim them when necessary. Regardless of the circumstances, we will continue our path in unity.”

"NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN UBP"

Highlighting the importance of UBP’s values and unity, Hasipoğlu stated, “Those who disregard the values of our party and attempt to drag us into artificial political crises are greatly mistaken. No individual or position is bigger than the National Unity Party. The essence is UBP itself and the welfare of our people.”

Addressing discussions on early elections, he remarked, “We have not forgotten the days when those calling for early elections resigned after failing to see light at the end of the tunnel when they were in power.”

Finally, Hasipoğlu reaffirmed UBP’s commitment to leading the Turkish Cypriot people toward the future they deserve, stating, “We will continue the fight for stronger tomorrows together.”
