Erhürman Calls Out Government MPs for Double-Stamped Votes

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Tufan Erhürman shared his thoughts on the Parliamentary Speaker election, criticizing the government's MPs for their voting behavior. Erhürman highlighted that in the 15th round of voting, three MPs from the government cast "no" votes, while three others opted to cast invalid votes by stamping the ballot twice.

Commenting on social media, Erhürman pointed out that the MPs who submitted double-stamped ballots seemed unfamiliar with the process, despite it being the 15th round of voting. He said, "Even if they had never voted before, they would have learned how to stamp the ballot properly by the 15th round."

Erhürman emphasized key constitutional principles such as democracy, the secret ballot, public vote counting, and freedom of choice. Criticizing those who dismiss legal concerns in favor of political analysis, he stated:

"The government claims to have the support of 29 MPs, yet three voted against in the 15th round, and three submitted double-stamped ballots. Why? Even if they were inexperienced, surely by the 15th round, they would know how to stamp the ballot. But they didn’t, and they double-stamped."

Erhürman concluded by urging a discussion on the political implications, asking, "If we are to look at this from a political perspective rather than a legal one, then the fundamental question is: Why?"
