Accident on the Famagusta-Nicosia Highway: One Injured

On the morning of October 20, 2024, around 9:00 a.m., a traffic accident occurred at the Korkuteli Junction on the Famagusta-Nicosia Highway. A truck, driven by Mehmet Çiftçi (29), entered the highway carelessly and collided with the left front side of a truck driven by Ali Altay (24), which was traveling west. As a result of the impact, the truck lost control, hitting a traffic sign and a lighting pole on the median strip before coming to a stop in the opposite lane. Ali Altay was taken to Famagusta State Hospital for treatment and was discharged. The police investigation is ongoing.

Accident Caused by Drunk Driver in Ortaköy

According to the police press office, on the evening of October 20, 2024, at 9:30 p.m., a drunk driver, Doğu Suyolcu (21), lost control of his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (183 milligrams) and crashed into a parked vehicle with license plate PV 174 on Öğretmenler Street in Ortaköy. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the accident. Suyolcu was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

Accident on the Güzelyurt-Girne Highway: Four Injured

On October 20, 2024, at around 10:30 p.m., Esad Baha Kartal (22) lost control of his vehicle (license plate ET 794) while navigating a leftward bend on the Güzelyurt-Girne Highway and crashed into the barriers. Kartal and his passengers, Gülhan Kartal (56), Muhammed Ali Özaltın (22), and Ökkeş Can Gocuk (22), were injured in the accident. The injured were placed under observation at Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

Chain Reaction Accident in Famagusta Caused by Drunk Driver

According to the police press office, on the morning of October 21, 2024, at around 4:00 a.m., Uvanç Recaioglu (25), while driving under the influence of alcohol (228 milligrams) on İsmet İnönü Boulevard in Famagusta, lost control of his vehicle with license plate MF 443 and crashed into a parked vehicle with license plate PM 925. The impact caused his vehicle to swerve and hit another truck. Recaioglu and passenger Berkan İstanbul (28) were treated and discharged from Famagusta State Hospital. Recaioglu was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

Chain Reaction Accident on the Ercan-Iskele Road: Three Injured

On October 21, 2024, at around 6:00 a.m., a traffic accident occurred near the Serdarlı Dam area on the Ercan-Iskele Highway. Hasan Boşnak (78), while driving license plate LB 083, crossed into the opposite lane due to inattention and collided first with a vehicle driven by Derviş Ahmet Özaktaş (29) with license plate NH 453, and then with another vehicle driven by Mehmet Salih Kırmızı (40) with license plate HY 472. Three drivers, along with Cem Karasu (34), a passenger in the HY 472 vehicle, were injured in the accident. The injured are currently receiving treatment at Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
