Akansoy criticized the current government’s inability to address these problems, stating, "The purpose of the article is clear, and it was the appointed government and Mr. Tatar who provided this opportunity to certain groups."

He referred to the article as a "foreseen disaster," noting that it outlined how universities in Northern Cyprus became gateways for human trafficking and highlighted the issue of fake diplomas. “The story details how students were deceived into coming to the North with false promises of studying in EU countries, only to be abandoned by fraudulent agencies,” Akansoy said.

Reflecting on past warnings, Akansoy explained, “When the fake diploma issue first surfaced, we stressed the need for a swift and thorough investigation. We warned that this major problem couldn't be covered up, but just like other issues, it was pushed aside and buried.”

He also suggested that the timing of the Financial Times article was not coincidental, saying, “It doesn’t take a genius to see that this article was published to raise concerns about the reputation of our universities and Northern Cyprus."

Akansoy pointed fingers at the government and President Tatar, stating, “This opportunity was given to them by the appointed government and Mr. Tatar, just as they encouraged the construction sector, leading to the crisis reported in The Guardian.”

He concluded, “The government and Tatar are the main culprits behind all of this. Stop looking for scapegoats elsewhere because you’ve left this society defenseless.”
