Ibrahim Erkurt, 32, appeared in court yesterday, facing charges of "threat of violence" and "serious assault." He allegedly told the victim, "I will kill you where you stand. I’m crazy, I’ll leave no trace, and no one will find me."

Police officer Begüm Bektaş presented the details in court, explaining that the incident occurred on October 19, 2024, around 8:00 AM at Erkurt's residence in Hamitköy, Nicosia. A disagreement arose between Erkurt and his 38-year-old girlfriend when she asked him to take her to work. During the argument, Erkurt allegedly hit her with a stick on the shoulder and slapped her back with his hand, seriously injuring her. He then threatened to kill her.

Bektaş confirmed that the victim was taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, where medical reports documented signs of physical assault. Erkurt was arrested the same day, and the stick used in the assault was seized as evidence. He admitted to the charges during questioning, and the investigation has been completed.

Judge Nuray Necdet, after reviewing the testimony, ordered Erkurt’s release on bail, prohibiting him from leaving the country. As part of his bail conditions, Erkurt must pay 20,000 TL, provide two guarantors who will each sign bonds worth 300,000 TL, and report to the nearest police station once a week.
