Erdoğan: "TRNC’s High-Level Representation at the OTS Summit is Crucial"
President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emphasized the importance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) being represented at the highest level at the upcoming Organization of Turkic States (OTS) summit in Bishkek.
During the BRICS Summit, Erdoğan met with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, accompanied by several Turkish officials, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.
According to a statement from the Presidential Communications Directorate, bilateral relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed. Erdoğan stressed that Turkey is taking firm steps in cooperation with Uzbekistan, particularly in energy and defense sectors, and aims to strengthen economic and cultural ties.
On international matters, Erdoğan underscored the importance of imposing a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel through the United Nations in response to its actions in Palestine and Lebanon. Additionally, he noted that achieving lasting stability in Afghanistan is crucial to combat threats like terrorism, irregular migration, and illegal drug production.
