Özsağlam, who was a guest on Gökhan Altıner’s Sabah Postası program aired on Kıbrıs Postası, shared his thoughts on the matter.

At the start of the program, Özsağlam condemned terrorism, referring to the recent attack at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), and extended his condolences to the families of the martyrs, emphasizing that "terrorism leads nowhere."

"NO EXPECTATIONS FROM THE TRIPARTITE MEETING"

Regarding the Guterres-Tatar-Christodoulides meeting in New York, Özsağlam stated he had no significant expectations. He remarked, "Dialogue is always good, but discussions on crossing points were already ongoing. Both sides redefined their positions, but there is no guarantee of a solution. This dinner resembles the exploratory talks between Turkey and Greece since 2002."

Commenting on the closer ties between the UN Secretary-General and Turkey, Özsağlam added, "There’s no need for false hope. The ideas are clear, but things can change suddenly—24 hours is a long time in politics." He also noted that the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) shares the same views as Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot side regarding equality in the negotiations.

"WHY HAVE ENERGY RESOURCES REMAINED UNTAPPED FOR 20 YEARS?"

On the issue of energy resources in Cyprus, Özsağlam pointed out that no steps had been taken for a long time, asking, "Why haven’t these energy resources been tapped for 20 years? Where is this natural gas? Most of the resources are in Egypt, but agreements were put on hold due to the Russia-Ukraine war."

"TURKEY’S DETACHMENT FROM PRODUCTION IS A MAJOR ISSUE"

Discussing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Silk Road project through India, Özsağlam stated that Turkey is striving to strengthen its economic position but highlighted that the country's detachment from production poses a significant problem. "Turkey needs a new economic policy. We need a Turkey that is not detached from production," he said.

Özsağlam also touched on high interest rates and exchange rates, predicting, "Interest rates will drop in the new year, the currency will soar, and this will benefit exporters. The rise in foreign exchange might also be beneficial for the tourism sector."
