Speaking at the 6th Antalya Tourism Fair, Ataoğlu discussed Varosha's transformation since its partial opening in October 2020, noting that it has attracted over two million visitors. "The opening of Varosha and the opportunity for everyone to access its beaches and see its buildings has had a tremendous impact on tourism, creating a new model within alternative tourism,” he said.

Ataoğlu underscored the increasing importance of tourism in the TRNC and expressed the desire for more Turkish investment and visitors, noting that incentives are offered to Turkish investors. “We encourage investors who not only establish but continue to expand their projects,” he added.

Ataoğlu extended an invitation to Turkish citizens, saying, “Our call to our brothers in Turkey: there’s an island out there that belongs to all of us. Just as we stood together in 1974, let’s come together now to cherish and protect this land.”
