Akansoy: "CTP is Not Seeking to Create Chaos"
Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Secretary General Asım Akansoy stated that the recent parliamentary turmoil stems from issues within the government itself, not CTP.
Speaking on a program, Akansoy criticized the government, highlighting that the coalition, with 29 members, struggles to maintain a quorum of 26 due to internal divisions. He emphasized that CTP is prepared to lead the country alongside all patriotic and democratic segments of society in a fair, democratic, and sustainable governance model.
Akansoy underlined that "CTP has no interest in creating chaos," attributing the disorder to the ruling party’s failure to maintain party unity, which he said harms the nation. He noted that three legal opinions have deemed the recent election of Ziya Öztürkler as invalid, suggesting the issue should be resolved legally by the parliamentary council. Akansoy also criticized Öztürkler's request to be recognized as Speaker, calling it a breach of political ethics and norms.
Calling for an early election, Akansoy dismissed any notion of CTP boycotting parliament. He affirmed CTP's strategic approach, indicating the timing for a no-confidence motion will be chosen carefully. Addressing economic concerns, he warned of rising inequality and shrinking middle class, stating that the public faces increasing uncertainty and hardship.
