"Legal principles were trampled on in the Parliament Speaker election," Bengihan stated, adding that the government disregarded laws in the selection process, undermining legislative authority exercised on behalf of the people.

Bengihan alleged that the UBP-DP-Re-Birth Party coalition, after failing to elect a candidate despite 15 rounds of voting over two weeks, declared votes with dual stamps valid, despite written statements from three legal experts deeming them "invalid." He labeled the situation a "black mark on democracy," stressing that the perceived illegality has not been accepted by the public.

Condemning the outcome, Bengihan added, "Those who undermine democracy and the law in Parliament have no right to remain there for even a single day."
