Following the death of a 20-day-old infant at the Emergency Hospital, healthcare workers Kezban Yayman, Çağrı Şah, Güler Karakuş, Ayşe Durak, and Meryem Altundemir have been brought before the Nicosia District Court. Police reported that four of the suspects were working on the same shift, while one was on a different shift. A 5-liter bottle containing ethanol was found in the suspects' room after the incident. The court has ordered their detention for three days as part of the investigation.

The investigation, which began after the sudden death of the infant in the hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, revealed that ethanol, a colorless and flammable liquid, had been added to the babies' formula without precaution. Police also reported that seven other infants are currently undergoing treatment.

Police highlighted the need to gather more testimonies and review security footage. The Ministry of Health issued a statement at midnight confirming that six of the babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are recovering well.
