Ministry Investigates After Nurse Accidentally Mixes Alcohol into Formula at Neonatal Unit
In an incident at the Emergency Hospital's Neonatal Unit, it was reported that a nurse mistakenly added alcohol instead of water to the formula given to seven infants.
Following the simultaneous deterioration in the health of the seven infants, one of whom sadly passed away, the Ministry of Health released a statement announcing an investigation.
The Ministry’s statement read:
"After the simultaneous deterioration in the health of seven infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Emergency Hospital on Saturday, October 26, 2024, and the unfortunate loss of one, the Ministry has initiated a thorough investigation. An administrative inquiry has been launched, and the relevant authorities have been notified. Cooperation with the police is ongoing to ensure the integrity of the investigation. We respectfully inform the public."
