Three Traffic Accidents Occur: One Arrested
Three traffic accidents occurred in İncesu, Boğazköy, and Güzelyurt, resulting in one arrest.
In the first incident on Dereboyu Street in İncesu, at around 3:30 PM yesterday, a 53-year-old driver, Murat Arar, lost control of his vehicle, a VG 222-registered car, while navigating a left-turning curve. Due to his negligence, the vehicle veered off the road and fell approximately four meters into a drainage ditch, landing on its roof. Both Arar and his 30-year-old passenger, Bengü Kasımoğlu, were injured but refused treatment at Girne Dr. Akçiçek Hospital. An investigation is ongoing.
In Boğazköy, at approximately 6:15 PM yesterday, 33-year-old Gökhan Coşkun, under the influence of 328 milligrams of alcohol, crashed his SM 270-registered vehicle into the rear of a vehicle driven by 74-year-old Ali Dürüst Gültekin, who was traveling in the same direction. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Coşkun was arrested for driving under the influence, and an investigation is still in progress.
The third accident occurred on the Güzelyurt-Lefke main road around 12:15 AM, where 27-year-old Kadri Göktemiz, driving a UL 346-registered sedan towards Lefke, collided with a traffic sign located in the median due to negligence. The impact caused his vehicle to continue uncontrollably, hitting the curbstones surrounding a roundabout and a bus stop before coming to a halt in an empty lot. Göktemiz was taken to Cengiz Topel State Hospital, where he is under observation following treatment. The investigation is ongoing.
