Parliament Takes One-Week Break
The Parliament has announced a one-week break. Ziya Öztürkler, who was declared the new Speaker of the Parliament, opened the General Assembly for the first time under his title today. However, members of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and independent deputies did not attend the General Assembly session.
UBP Group Vice President Sunat Atun addressed the assembly, noting the absence of opposition members. He emphasized that according to the parliamentary regulations, the opposition must nominate candidates for the Deputy Speaker position.
Atun stated that the one-week break was granted to allow the opposition to come to the General Assembly, nominate candidates, and facilitate the election process.
