Weekly Fire Report: 15 Fires Cause 961,000 TL in Damages
Last week, 15 fires in Northern Cyprus resulted in damages totaling 961,000 TL. According to a statement from the police, the period from October 21 to October 27 saw 15 fires and 24 special service incidents reported.
The potential causes of the fires were identified as follows: electrical short circuits, contact between electrical wires igniting dry grass, arson, unattended stoves heating surfaces, damage to underground electrical cables during excavation, sparks from cutting metal igniting bales, accumulated grease in chimneys catching fire, improperly extinguished cigarette butts, and vehicles igniting following traffic accidents.
Special service incidents included rescuing individuals trapped in wells and elevators, dogs stranded in wells, fire prevention measures, cats caught in vehicle machinery, fire safety training, and the transfer of deceased individuals for forensic investigations.
